Complaint

In many of the above cases, or in any case where a teenager becomes aware that something suspicious is happening while using the internet and the media (any kind of harassment, blackmail, online “theft”, etc.), he or she should immediately inform an adult he or she trusts and then file a complaint. Arm your students with the information they need both to a. identify suspicious behavior (see sections above) and 2. make a complaint. It is particularly useful for them to be aware of both the ‘block’ and ‘report’ procedures where these are provided as functions in all MSDs. Ensure that a list of the necessary services/websites/phone lines for reporting cybercrime is available on the classroom notice board and remind them frequently that they can contact you or their parents/guardians to help them take such action should the need arise.
