Time of use

In order for children to enjoy using the internet and NCDs, it is recommended that we limit the amount of time per day they spend on the internet and NCDs. Otherwise, there are risks such as: irritability, distraction, lack of concentration, inconsistency in responsibilities, isolation, poor sleep quality, vision problems, musculoskeletal pain and other health problems, and even addiction. At the same time, the more time they spend in NCPs, the more they are exposed to inappropriate content and to the risks of any form of harassment. It is often recommended that a parental control application be installed so that the minor’s guardians can monitor the time and content of use. As teachers, you can equally help to reduce your pupils’ time on the media and the internet. To begin with, you can help adolescents recognize the amount of hours they are consuming on NCDs and the awareness of the deprivation of their quality time. Many mobile phones have built-in apps for this use (English: Digital well-being), but there are also similar apps on Google Play and Apple Store.

Then invite them to share in class activities that do not involve the use of an electronic device, which they enjoy and which have a positive effect on them. In this way, alternative ways of using their free time will be highlighted.
