Inclusive Teaching with AI
Universal Design for Learning and AI for the learners most often left out.

About the course
What this course is about
Your group changes faster than your materials do. In one room you may have a learner who reads well below the text, a learner who arrived last month without the local language, and a learner with an individual education plan. Most advice about AI stops at “ask it to simplify the text”.
This course starts from the other end. With Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as the design lens, you look for the barrier in the task, the text or the timing — not in the learner. You then remove it using AI and the accessibility features already built into every device, creating several versions of a task without losing accuracy or dignity. You also see where AI is weakest: less-resourced languages and disability. Because vulnerable learners face a higher risk of cyberbullying and grooming, Cyberno’s digital-safety work puts safety planning right beside the learning plan.
What makes it different: it is the only course in our series that looks at AI through the needs of learners with special educational needs, multilingual and newly arrived learners.
Who is it for
Teachers and lecturers of any subject, SEN and inclusion staff, psychologists, counsellors, and disability and student-support services. You need basic experience with an AI assistant; Course 01 is recommended but not required, and Monday includes a short refresher. Bring a laptop and one lesson that is hard to make work for everyone.
Learning outcomes
What you will learn
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Identify the barriers in one of your own lessons using Universal Design for Learning.
Select assistive features — text-to-speech, captions, levelled texts, symbol support — for different learner profiles.
Produce three versions of one task, each checked for accuracy and respectful wording.
Demonstrate how AI output changes when a learner's disability, ethnicity or language changes in a prompt.
Apply data-protection rules to sensitive data such as SEN records, and explain what the EU AI Act bans in education.
Design a safety plan for one vulnerable learner as part of your inclusion action plan.
Programme
Your five days
Barriers, not deficits
- Welcome, needs check and a short AI refresher
- UDL in practice: a "barrier walk" through your own lesson
- AI and assistive technology: text-to-speech, speech-to-text, captions, levelled texts
Differentiation and many languages
- Several versions of one task — without extra nights of work
- Accuracy and dignity check: has the easier version lost facts, or respect?
- Multilingual and newly arrived learners; messages to families with a human check
Bias, data and safety
- Bias investigation: same prompt, different learner
- Sensitive data under GDPR and the limits set by the EU AI Act
- Vulnerable learners online: grooming, cyberbullying and safety plans
Design lab
- Redesign your lesson with UDL and AI
- Structured peer review with a UDL checklist
- Afternoon: study visit
From plan to practice
- Finalise your inclusion action plan and Cascade Pack
- Presentations, evaluation and certificates
Beyond the classroom
- Welcome dinner on Monday evening at a local taverna — included in the fee.
- Study visit on Thursday afternoon to an inclusive school, assistive-technology centre or refugee-education organisation in Athens, with a short debrief. Included in the fee; not counted in the 15 contact hours.
How we teach
- Short inputs, then hands-on work on your own device with your own materials.
- Exchange with colleagues from other European education systems, and real cases — including ones where AI made things worse.
- An action plan that grows every day, plus a Cascade Pack: a ready-made 45-minute briefing for colleagues.
Certificate and follow-up
- Certificate of attendance listing the dates, the 15 contact hours and the learning outcomes.
- Learning outcomes ready to paste into your Mobility Agreement and Europass Mobility document.
- Online follow-up session (60–90 minutes) 6–8 weeks after the course.
