Course 01 · Entry
AI Essentials for Teachers
A calm, practical starting point for using artificial intelligence in teaching — safely and lawfully.
Dates 2026-27
Adrianou 4, Neo Psychiko, Athens · Monday–Friday, 09:30–12:30
About the course
What this course is about
Your learners already use AI assistants, and you are expected to have a view on them. Since February 2025 the EU AI Act has required organisations that use AI tools to build AI literacy among their staff — so the duty is already yours.
In five mornings you find out what a large language model actually does, learn a prompting method you can reuse on your own lessons, and look hard at the risks: biased output, confident errors, personal data in the wrong place and deepfakes used against young people. Cyberno is a Greek non-profit working on digital safety and preventing online harm, so the safety sessions come from real casework. We are independent of every AI vendor — sceptics are welcome.
What makes it different: it is the only course in our series that covers the basics in full, which every other AI course then builds on.
Who is it for
Teachers and lecturers of any subject, teaching assistants, librarians, counsellors and other education staff. No prior AI experience and no prerequisites. Bring a laptop and a free account with any general-purpose AI assistant (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot or Mistral Le Chat).
Learning outcomes
What you will learn
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Explain how a large language model produces text and why it sometimes invents facts.
Create three teaching materials for your subject with a five-step prompting method, checked against reliable sources.
Redesign one lesson so that every task states clearly whether AI may be used, and why.
Test an AI assistant for bias and interpret what the differences mean.
Decide what personal data may go into an AI tool, using a five-question tool check and the basics of GDPR and the EU AI Act.
Present a class AI agreement and a three-month action plan.
